I've been thinking a lot lately about "home." About what it means to have always been the new kid in town. About not having a hometown. The conclusion I've finally to to is that "home" is what you make it, and the home I've made these past couple decades in Iowa is everything I could ever have asked for. Here's an essay I wrote in 2016, and a public radio interview from earlier this fall, both on what this state has meant to me. <3
